Debra DiCianna to Speak at London Shipping Week’s Intertanko Meeting

On the opening day of London International Shipping week, INTERTANKO is hosting a lunchtime seminar at the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright entitled: Ballast Water – life after entry into force.

INTERTANKO’s Environment Director, Tim Wilkins, will first of all provide a summary of how the entry into force of IMO’s BWM Convention will impact the tanker industry. Then, together with Debra DiCianna, Senior Compliance Engineer at Choice Ballast Solutions, they will also provide a review of current US type approved ballast water management systems on the market.

In a nutshell, the seminar will cover:

  1. Significant issues owners should focus on with the entry into force of the BWMC (8 September), e.g. implementation schedules, undertaking ballast water exchange, contingency measures when BWMSs fail, etc.
  2. The latest regarding the USCG regulations and in particular type approvals.
  3. An overview of US type approved BWMS, looking at their operational profiles and possible limitations.

Admission is free and Members will be given priority, but numbers are limited and it is essential anyone wishing to attend registers here.
