List of BWM Systems Complying with New G8 Standards

All BWMS installed onboard ships on or after 28 October, 2020 will need to be approved for use in accordance with the BWMS Code or 2016 Guidelines (New G8). It is in the shipowner’s best interests to find out how this might affect them. Removal or replacement of the BWMS installed before enforcement of the new G8 Standards is not required by the BWM Convention as long as the BWMS has been approved when held to the standards of the original guidelines or the 2016 guidelines. After this date, any BWMS approved in accordance with the unaltered Guidelines (G8) must not be installed on board ships.

The new G8 Guidelines include more descriptive guidelines in respect to system testing, control and monitoring of system, and test reporting. This reduces misinterpretation by any administrations and guarantees that the implemented systems work, addressing shipowners previous concerns with the existing guidelines. See below for manufacturers that are in compliance with the G8 Standards.
